A project was designed with the objective of shipping 100,000 ram lambs per year to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The basis was an intensive irrigated farm that provided forage for sheep grazing and for a feedlot. In addition to the sheep enterprise it was planned that wheat and barley would also be produced under irrigation from the Nile River. The location for the project was near Atbarah in River Nile State, in North East Sudan.
A second project, aimed at sheep production only, was to be located in Al Jazirah, between the Blue and White Nile, south of Khartoum. The aim was to produce meat for the local market, as well as wheat and alfalfa hay for Saudi Arabia.
For both of these projects, a business plan was developed, feasibility study completed and financials estimated.
