PNG – a near neighbour of Australia has a growing population and developing economy. An entrepreneur in the mining industry requested a full feasibility and a bankable business plan for the development of an intensive cattle enterprise. Export of live cattle to Asia and the Middle East provided a blue print for such an enterprise.
A team with various expertise including the environmental safeguards necessary for ‘industrial type’ livestock and manufacturing constructions were assembled. The ‘Vanimo Beef Enterprise’ conceptualised, designed, and then gained all approvals for a vertically integrated beef production enterprise. It included – farm for crops, feedlot, abattoir, housing, and distribution network.
Importantly, this development captured the interest of Yousef Al Abdalla who invited 2 of the team including Rod Stephenson to visit Jordan, the West Bank [at Jericho and Bethlehem] to investigate potential abattoir and housing developments for Palestinians.
Subsequently, all 3 owners of UDC identified the need to have an ‘Enterprise Finance’ capability.
Yousef has created this aspect of UDC – and provides the explanations and expertise.
